Wonderful, warm welcome and Nick (?) who was the manager, went out of his way to get me dinner despite kitchen being closed for another 1.5hrs cause I hadn't eaten all day. Insisted I sit by the fire and let me do a little taste test of a few beers. What a delightful experience. And the food was very good. Decor is true to tradition of old inn. Such an inviting cozy space.

When you make a phone call to a hotel enquiring about accommodation and the response is extraordinarily helpful you know you are on a winner. Thank you Brittany for my first experience. We arrived tired after a late motorcycle ride. Our first impression of the bar was WOW, the locals were friendly and chatty. Then we met Sarah who was into her 3rd week. What a girl, she was flat out in the bar, taking phone calls, meal orders and not once did she fall under pressure. There was a break in the traffic and Sarah showed us to our room. Quirky and quaint. Back to the bar which was filling up quickly. We ordered dinner and the food that turned up was absolutely incredible. What a hidden gem 1826 is. Don't drive past ...stop have a coffee in the Cafe or a meal at the pub. If I could give 10 stars to Brittany and Sarah I would and to the chef....well he gets 20 stars

Proper character pub built 200 years ago. We stayed overnight and had dinner. Yes, the rooms havent been renovated fully yet still retain old world charm, which adds to the experience. Bed was comfortable, tv with internet, clean shower & toilet. Food and staff were fantastic. Best steak I've ever had. Take no notice of the less than 5 star reviews and visit this pub. They wont last for ever and are getting harder to find. Enjoy it for what it is.

Hamilton Inn is one of Tasmania’s hidden gems. We hosted a birthday celebration there, including lunch, dinner, and accommodation, and the entire experience was outstanding. The food was fantastic, the accommodation was excellent value, and the staff and management provided service beyond expectations. Every guest was made to feel genuinely welcome, and the locals joining in added to the warm, friendly atmosphere. It truly made our stay a wonderful and memorable experience.

The italian beef ragu and the shepherds pie were both superb and had we been spending longer in Hamilton and not heading to the airport early, we would've been back the next night for another helping. We were informed you can order the ragu as a takeaway during the day. It was one is those meals that you would travel an hour to experience it.

Hamilton Inn and cafe was a stop worth taking. The staff are super friendly and do their absolute best to make you feel welcome. The food is amazing, I mean amazing!! It's a good place to stay, but the rooms are very rustic... There is a bathroom with toilet and shower, a tv with all the streaming services, add your own account. The floors are really squeaky, but that's the character, and the walls are thin, you can hear everything you're neighbor says, but hey, this is a very old Inn built in the 1800's, of you want a swanky hotel experience you are simply in the wrong place, this isn't a city hotel. Do yourself a favor, even if you didn't stay at least drop in for a drunk and a meal, you will not be disappointed. The cafe is also beautiful and had fantastic cakes, slices, etc. All made fresh on the premises. It will not disappoint!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. During a long drive, we decided to make a stop as this was the only place around that was open. The kitchen closes at 8pm, which was right when we arrived, but the hostess and cook were kind enough to still serve us food, which was hearty and delicious. The shepherd’s pie was an absolute highlight! A big thank you to Brittany and the rest of the staff for their hospitality!

Stopped by on the way to Saint Claire Lake. The kitchen was closed but we were offered an OUTSTANDING selection of pies, some of which the best I have ever we had. Had the steak and onion pie which was phenomenal. Staff was lovely and friendly. While the pub had such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting.
